![]() The Network of International Christian Schools (NICS) was asked by a group of concerned parents to come to Lima and assume a fledging school called the Emanuel Christian School. In August of 2001 NICS sent in a principal to oversee the operation of the International Christian School of Lima (ICSL). With the capital provided by NICS the school was able to hire four teachers and opened its doors with 17 students attending. Initially, NICS had planned to run a Preschool through grade 6 program and add a grade a year until reaching grade 12. Since the new principal had two girls in high school a computer based curriculum was brought for them to use. However, many families with children in grades 7 – 12 stressed an interest in ICSL and the 7 – 12 computer program started to grow quicker than the elementary program. In August of 2002 the school started with 40 students of which 16 were in grades 7 – 12. ICSL then made a commitment to change the computer program in grades 7 – 9 for the school year starting in August of 2003. Realizing that textbooks for grades 7 – 9 would be very costly a prayer request was put out through the NICS network for more students and income to help with the added expense of adding three traditional grades in one year rather than following the plan to add one grade per year. In October of 2002 two schools from the NICS organization, International Christian School of Seoul and Bandung Alliance International School, donated their used textbooks to ICSL and shipped them, at their cost, to Lima. Two secondary teachers were hired in February of 2003 to come to Lima in July of 2003 and ICSL started having traditional classrooms for grades 7 – 9. In August 2003 the school opened with 48 students. In February 2004 two more secondary teachers were added and ICSL started a traditional program for grades 10 – 12 in August. Once again schools from NICS donated the needed textbooks and the high school was off to a good start. In August 2004 the school opened with 65 students. Another secondary teacher was added in July 2005 and the school opened in August with 74 students. In August 2006 the school opened with 90 students. ICSL now has seven full-time secondary teachers and opened in August 2007 with 117 students. Experiencing steady growth over the next few years, presently, ICSL has 135 students and 29 full-time teachers. The Lord is blessing and growing the school for His honor and glory. We thank God for the many blessings He has given us as a school and staff and are looking forward to seeing how He is going to provide for our building needs. Praise God!
