Weekly College Updates

Our Guidance Department encompasses many aspects of the school life. These include our Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) standardized, PSAT, AP, TOEFL, SAT, and ACT testing. This department also strives to offer counseling to students in any grade. Students are offered confidentiality to the extent that is legally possible. Generally speaking, confidentiality is maintained in all cases except when there is an indication of harm to the student, the student indicates harm to others, or there is an indicated threat against property.

Also, the ICSL Guidance Department handles transcript requests, transcript evaluations from other schools, college recommendation letters, the college selection process, and maintains records on standardized tests as well as records on alums who have transitioned to college or university.

Useful Definitions

  • Early decision, according to Wikipedia, is a binding commitment to enroll; that is, if accepted under an early decision program, the applicant must withdraw all other applications and enroll at that institution. Thus, early decision does not allow applicants to apply to more than one early decision school simultaneously.
  • Early action allows candidates to decline the offer if accepted, and depending on the program, it may be possible for a candidate to apply to more than one early action school and an early decision school.
