Beginning in the 2nd Semester term of the 2009 - 2010 school year, ICSL moved it's standardized testing from the pencil & paper Stanford Achievement Test (SAT) to the computer-based Measures of Academic Progress (MAP). Students and teachers alike were trained on how the system worked and how results could be used in the classroom. Below is information for students, parents, and teachers to prepare for testing and post-test information. Students Your teachers will be having conferences with you in Quarter 2 to help you prepare for our next testing in February. You can find some goal sheets here that you can download and print. Student PowerPoint® Presentation - You can use this PowerPoint® to help you understand the test BEFORE you take the test. Elementary Goal Sheet - This form will help you, your teacher, and parents establish a goal and ways to achieve that goal for the next testing time. We use parent volunteers for most of our proctoring. Dates and times are flexible to try to accommodate your schedule. Parent Toolkit - This is a PDF document that you can use to answer your questions about MAP, talking with your child, and helping them to prepare. It also contains helpful links to websites for parents and kids. Sample Report with Graphs - This is a PDF document that gives you a sample report with graphs along with explanations of what the symbols and words mean. We use similar reports in our parent/teacher conferences. This will help you be prepared before the meeting. The primary measurement used with the MAP test is the RIT score. This document, RIT Explained, is a PDF file to help you understand the RIT score better. On the reports you receive from teachers is a Lexile reading score.
