International Christian School of Lima (ICSL) does not discriminate against students on the basis of national, ethnic, or racial origin. The school respects the religious preferences of parents and students; however, all classroom instruction is in the context of the stated doctrinal position of the school. Students from other religious backgrounds will not be excused from the religious instruction or activities of the school. The school maintains the right to refuse admission to students not meeting the school's academic requirements or to students displaying a lack of willingness to meet the code of conduct of the school.

All students enrolling at ICSL will be assigned to a classroom after consultation with the parent and review of previous school records (last three years if possible). Any grade placement prior to receipt of school records is tentative. All classes have a limit on enrollment. Qualified students will be accepted in order of their registration. Returning students are given preferred enrollment prior to May 1st. When the limit of the class has been reached, qualified students will be placed on a waiting list. Kindergarten and first grade placements are based on the following:

  • Kindergarten for 5-year-olds is offered at ICSL. Children enrolling in the K-5 program must be 5 years of age before October 1 of the current school year.
  • Students entering first grade must be 6 years of age by October 1 of the current school year. To enter first grade, a student must have attended an English-speaking kindergarten or be tested by ICSL.
  • Exceptions may be given for children who are coming from schools where placement cut off dates differ and are based on previous records, interviews and placement testing.

Students having difficulty with the English language may be placed in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The level of the ESL placement will be determined by placement tests. There is an extra charge assessed for ESL instruction, dependent on the number of periods the student attends ESL per week.
